Debossing
Sculpted impressions with depth and character
Debossing presses your artwork down into the sheet, creating a recessed effect with beautiful shadow and precision. It’s subtle, elegant, and superb on both packaging and editorial work.

Why Debossing matters
- Subtle depth – A refined, engraved-like impression.
- Ideal for heavier boards – Particularly impactful on packaging.
- Zero-ink technique – Works on any colour stock.
- Pairs beautifully with foil – A recessed foil area gives exceptional definition.
Creative Debossing
- Blind Deboss - Soft, understated and perfect for minimalist branding.
- Registered Deboss - Aligned to printed artwork for precision depth.
- Foil $ Deboss - Foil stamped into the impression for razor-sharp typography.
- Pattern Deboss -All-over or partial textures for tactile surfaces and grip.
What this unlocks for your project
- Subtle, premium packaging panels and lids.
- Book covers and sleeves with refined depth.
- Certificates and stationery with a crafted impression.
- Contrast layers when combined with embossing or foil.
Tech specs at a glance
- Works best with papers/boards 250–600gsm.
- Recessed areas may show through on reverse depending on stock.
- Large solid deboss areas may require testing for even pressure.
- Cleanest results on smooth substrates.
Design tips - faster approvals, smarter results
- Avoid very fine open shapes - they can soften when pressed.
- Combine with soft-touch lamination for greater shadow depth.
- Keep at least 3 mm between debossed elements for clean edges.
Sustainability
Like embossing, debossing is material-neutral and fully compatible with fibre-based recyclability.
